an existential romance in four acts
SYNOPSIS
In their small Montana town, Ruby and Carl Pearson are rodeo royalty, or were, until it became one thing too many and Carl lands in jail for robbery, leaving Ruby to hold their world together for their quirky son, Brian. From jail, Carl calls his estranged brother Sean to look after a horse he has bred in secret. More out of curiosity than family duty, Sean comes to town and turns heads with his reputation as a champion bronc rider, his good looks, and his easy way of fitting in. Ruby mistrusts him at first, but Sean slips into the rhythms of Ruby and Brian’s life with unsettling ease, offering a glimpse of what things might have looked like with a different, less broken man. As boundaries blur, old wounds and secrets rise to the surface, and Carl’s release date looms, Ruby is forced to question not only the life she has built, but what a family can become when no one is entirely right, no one is entirely wrong, and somehow they still need one another.
